News reports have told how the Navajo Nation has been devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. As of Sunday, the Nation has reported 5,250 COVID cases, making it one of the hardest hit communities in the U.S. per capita. Community health centers across Arizona are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide care for underserved and uninsured populations. As a healthcare partner and the largest dental benefits provider in the state, Delta Dental of Arizona continually reinforces the connection between oral health and overall health. HRSA Announces It Will Fund Family Medicine Residency Program

Residents will be trained at North Country HealthCare’s Flagstaff – 4th Street location, as well as throughout northern Arizona. North Country HealthCare received notice last week that the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will fund its family medicine residency program, in the amount of $5.4 million over four years, providing vital funds to sustain the residency program. North Country HealthCare’s residency program will begin training four residents in July 2020. HRSA’s funding will come from their Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program. Josie and Maribel North Country HealthCare’s Well Woman HealthCheck program helps low-income, uninsured and underinsured women (like Maribel) gain access to age-appropriate breast and cervical cancer screening, as well as diagnostic services including clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap & HPV tests, and pelvic exams. Maribel first started coming to North Country HealthCare in 2013 for care. When Maribel became a patient, she was told about the Well Woman HealthCheck Program through her provider and was encouraged to see if she was eligible for screenings. Several colleagues from North Country participated in Flagstaff’s 3rd annual American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) at Buffalo Park on Saturday October 5th. The walk, called the “Out of the Darkness Walk,” is a community-based event that brings together friends, family, and supporters of those effected by suicide to raise awareness of suicide prevention, supporting others who have survived suicide, and to raise funds that support suicide prevention resources.
