Several colleagues from North Country participated in Flagstaff’s 3rd annual American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) at Buffalo Park on Saturday October 5th. The walk, called the “Out of the Darkness Walk” is a community-based event that brings together friends, family, and supporters of those effected by suicide to raise awareness of suicide prevention, supporting others who have survived suicide, and to raise funds that support suicide prevention resources. Dr. Bennett Edgerly who was the emcee for the event says he was “honored to play a part” in Flagstaff’s largest suicide prevention efforts.
At North Country HealthCare, we believe that it isn’t what you do so much as how you do it. Our behavioral health consultants are available to support individuals and families in making positive lifestyle changes to improve health and well-being. They can also assist in creating plans to manage health challenges and diagnoses.
North Country HealthCare has behavioral health counselors on our medical team. These counselors educate individuals and families on making lifestyle changes. Our behavioral health team is trained to work with individuals, families and small groups. They also provide short-term counseling services in areas such as stress, anxiety and depression – just ask your primary care provider at your next visit.
Each year suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined. Yet suicide prevention doesn’t receive anywhere near the funding as other leading causes of death. To learn more about how you can help support North Country HealthCare’s Behavioral Health Team visit our foundation page. Donations specified to behavioral health go toward a crisis fund that supports North Country HealthCare’s patients identified to have specific behavioral health needs that would otherwise go unmet.
Bennet Edgerly, PhD, LPC, is a Behavioral Health Consultant Coordinator at North Country HealthCare. Bennett cares for patients at North Country HealthCare’s Flagstaff location. He is passionate about counseling health psychology and enjoys playing with his sons, outdoor activities, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and spending time with his friends and family on his free time.
Our behavioral health providers accept most health insurance plans, and we also offer a sliding-fee scale for those who qualify. For more information, call 928.522.9400.
