We are debuting the next short video of our series, “North Country HealthCare’s Teaching Health Centers.”
North Country HealthCare is a community health center. Community health centers keep communities healthy. We are a teaching health center and are committed to training the next generation of health professionals. When medical students train in community health centers, they live and work where you do, too. You never know, they might be your doctor someday soon!
An Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is a federal model to improve the health of communities through better access to care. AHECs work to address the maldistribution of healthcare professionals in rural and underserved communities through three strategies:
Diversity – Recruiting students from minority and disadvantaged communities into health careers
Distribution – Encouraging healthcare professionals to practice in rural and underserved communities
Practice Transformation – Preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to work in an ever changing healthcare system
We are proud to be a Teaching Health Center. Our goal is to train health care providers who will stay in northern Arizona and continue to serve you. Our patients are our students’ best teachers. By sharing your story with a student, you will help them become a skilled healthcare provider. They will learn the importance of listening, how to provide patient education and quality of care.
