Are you passionate about empowering young girls and helping them build confidence through physical activity? Join us this fall as a coach for Girls on the Run, an inspiring afterschool program designed for 3rd to 8th-grade girls!
Girls on the Run is a national program with affiliate councils throughout the country. Since 2008, over 3,200 girls have participated in the Northern Arizona region alone! That’s a lot of lives changed by this innovative program.
Here at North Country HealthCare, we are proud to house this program under our Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions. Girls on the Run is a key initiative within our K-12 education programs, along with programs like our Future Health Leaders Camp.
Girls on the Run is not just an afterschool running program; it’s a transformative experience that empowers young girls. 97% of girls said they learned critical life skills they now use often at home, at school, and with their friends. That’s huge!
Over a 10-week period, the girls meet regularly with their coaches to engage in activities and lessons designed to boost their confidence, develop healthy relationships, manage their emotions, resolve conflict, and make more intentional decisions.
As a coach, you’ll have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of these young girls. You’ll guide them through a curriculum that combines physical activity with interactive lessons, fostering a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.
Coaching is such a rewarding experience. As a coach, you get to see the positive changes in the participants firsthand as they grow stronger and more self-assured each week.
We are now accepting applications for Girls on the Run coaches for the upcoming Fall 2024 season. Whether you’re an experienced runner or just someone who is passionate about making a difference, we welcome you to join our team! You’ll receive all the training and support you need to become an effective and inspiring coach.
There’s also a Junior Coach program for individuals between 16-18 years old who are interested in growing their leadership skills. Click here for more information on that program!
For more information about Girls on the Run and how to become a coach, visit the Girls on the Run – Colorado Plateau Centers for Health Professions website or reach out to Council Director Kelly Teeselink at 928.522.9452.
If you’d like to start a running team of your own, you can offer the program to a group of 8-15 girls at a location or site near you. This team will be a part of Girls on the Run of Northern Arizona. You can learn more about starting a team here!
We hope you’ll consider joining us as we inspire the next generation of girls to be strong, confident, and unstoppable. Stay connected with Girls on the Run of Northern Arizona (GOTRNA) on Facebook for updates and community stories!
