Teaching students and residents in our clinics is at the heart of our mission as a teaching health center. Preceptors help to mentor, guide, and empower northern Arizona’s future health professionals in all disciplines. This year’s Preceptors of the Year were selected from the pool of clinicians in medical, pharmacy, and dental who participated in teaching students and residents from July 2022 through June 2023. These clinicians not only teach an incredible number of hours, but they are also champions for supporting our mission as a teaching health center and inspire health career students every day.
Dr. Ellsworth teaches ATSU – ASDOH dental students in Show Low, providing vital experience for those interested in practicing in rural and underserved areas. In addition, Dr. Ellsworth has been an invaluable contributor to the creation of our new Preceptor Development Program, which will launch in early 2024. This year, Dr. Ellsworth precepted over 600 hours!
Dr. Vanlandingham a leader in teaching and training within the OB/GYN department. She teaches the family medicine residents and medical students learning at North Country. Dr. Vanlandingham is the glue between education and her department and we couldn’t be more grateful for this partnership. This year, Dr. Vanlandingham precepted over 400 hours!
Stephanie did her clinical training at North Country, and now she is one of our star preceptors. She really exemplifies the mission we have to grow our own health care providers. Stephanie precepts nurse practitioner students in Kingman and is always willing to help if a student rotation request comes through. This year, Stephanie precepted over 500 hours!
