We’re excited to announce that significant changes have been made to our “medical practice” patient experience survey.
Over several months, we worked with our survey vendor, Press Ganey, to shorten our survey. For many years, the survey was over 60 questions. While we knew it was long, we felt it was important to use the blended version of the survey which included standard Press Ganey questions AND CMS CGCAHPS questions. CMS reimburses hospitals based on HCAHPS scores and could reimburse clinical groups based on CGCAHPS scores. After 10 years without any movement, we reevaluated our priorities.
What is the number one reason we survey our patients? We care what they have to say and we want to improve in real-time. It only made sense to adopt a shorter survey if it meant we could increase the number of returned surveys we receive.
Our medical practice (family practice, pediatrics, OBGYN) survey is now under 20 questions and moves very quickly. It’s easy for patients to complete on their phone, table, computer or on paper. The survey should take someone between 5 and 10 minutes to complete and we review all data weekly.
All other service line surveys have remained the same.
We look forward to sharing more information about the patient experience survey process with you in the coming months. Stay tuned for a NEW patient experience dashboard, handy talking point cards and new reports.
