On Friday, July 21st, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced 516 awardees in 47 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia to help reduce the risks for heart attacks and strokes among millions of Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries. Last April, Susan G. Komen® Arizona awarded a $150,000 grant to North Country HealthCare’s Well Woman HealthCheck program (WWHP) to help fulfill Susan G. Komen’s mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever. In total, Komen Arizona awarded more than $725,000 in grants to 10 community programs in Arizona to fund life-saving breast cancer education, screening, diagnostics, treatment and survivorship support programs. North Country HealthCare is the first employer to sign up for the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority’s (NAIPTA) new commuter vanpool program, taking delivery of two vehicles this week. While an employee-initiated vanpool of pharmacists traveling between Flagstaff and the Winslow Indian Health Center has been going for a few months, this partnership with North Country marks the first time that a local employer has taken advantage of the cost-saving benefits of commuter vanpools to transport employees.
