About:
Dr. Jennifer Cortes is originally from the Chicago area and attended medical school at the University of Illinois, followed by a internal medicine and pediatric residency at Rush University Medical Center. After residency, she joined the US Public Health Service and relocated to Atlanta as a fellow in applied epidemiology with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Epidemic Intelligence Service, focusing on rotavirus vaccine effectiveness.
Once her fellowship was completed in 2010, Dr. Cortes transferred to Arizona where she provided primary care, HIV care, and hospital-based medical services to patients on the Navajo Reservation at Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation. In 2015, she moved to Flagstaff to work as an Internal Medicine and Pediatric Hospitalist with Northern Arizona Healthcare, where in addition to caring for hospitalized patients, Dr. Cortes led Northern Arizona Healthcare’s provider response to the COVID pandemic in 2020 and 2021. She joined North Country HealthCare in 2022 as the Quality and Population Health Medical Officer and also provides primary care to children and adults. In her free time, Dr. Cortes enjoys spending time outside with her kids, dogs, cat, goats and chickens. She also enjoys hiking, trail running, and gardening.
