Therese McMahan, CNM has a life long commitment to women’s health and social change. She has been in practice as a nurse practitioner then a certified nurse midwife for nearly 30 years. As a child she was fascinated by different types of birth-humans and other mammals and continues to delight in catching babies. More importantly caring for women and supporting them in their own self-care has grown in importance. When women are strong and healthy their babies, families and their communities are strong and healthy. She has a passion for providing care for the underserved whether in the city or remote rural locations. Over the past few years she has also developed interest in caring for the LGBTQ community and alternative reproductive assistance. Additionally, she has a deep caring for women who are sexual abuse survivors and women struggling with addictions and in recovery. She sees the individual women holistically in mind, body and emotions. Her mantra is in self-forgetting one finds. She believes profoundly in the power of humor and connection.
