Northern Arizona Area Health Education Center

The mission of Northern Arizona Area Health Education Center (NAHEC) is to improve the overall health of rural and underserved communities by addressing the supply and distribution of health professionals, with an emphasis on primary care, public health, community-based, interprofessional and culturally reinforcing services and education.

Through extensive partnerships, NAHEC addresses these three overarching goals:

  1. Helping communities grow their own health professionals
  2. Promoting community health
  3. Serving as a bridge between communities and resources

Established in 1987, NAHEC is part of the national and state AHEC system and serves Apache, Coconino, Navajo, and a portion of Yavapai Counties.
